The articles I include in this personal Blog will include a varied range of subjects that interest me. They will predominantly relate to the United Kingdom (my homeland), Spain and Europe. Any opinions I express will probably not be too contentious, however they are mine and not that of any organisation or group of which I am a member.

Sra. Pura Peris is NOT an MEP
I pointed out that - 'Los Verdes de Orihuela is a member of the Los Verdes de Pais Valencia region which in turn is a member of the Confederation of Los Verdes in Spain. In the European elections campaign the Confederation joined the Europa de Pueblos – Verdes coalition.' - and that - 'The coalition received sufficient votes on the 7th June 2009 to elect ONE and only one MEP and that automatically in a “closed list” is the first candidate Sr. Oriol Junqueras. He is the MEP not Pura Peris as stated by Los Verdes.'
On the European Parliament website is published the current list of the 50 MEPs for Spain for the 2009 to 2014 parliament period.
The list clearly shows that there is only one MEP elected for the Europa de los Pueblos - Verdes coalition and that is Oriol Junqueras Vies .
No where on the list of Spanish MEPs is Pura Peris as claimed by Los Verdes de Orihuela.
Sra. Peris is not an MEP.
This I believe clearly justifies my point that Los Verdes have a tendency to be economical with the truth when it serves their purpose; thereby misleading the public. They are very quick to criticise other political parties for doing the same.

Dear Mr Sampford,
ReplyDeletePura Peris wil effectively be MEP the final year of term in accordance with the agreements signed and recognized by the European Green Party between the Greens and the other parties forming electoral coalition.
Besides the commitment is complemented by collaborative work with the MEP holding the seat from the beginning and in fact we have already had two meetings to make joint initiatives. Until the time to take the seat Pura Peris will continue to work as before transferring complaints , requests and questions referred to it as citizens and especially of his fellow greens to the European Parliament by MEP electoral coalition
So, Mr Sampford you can be sure that Pura Peris will be MEP
I am a your entire disposal
Pura Peris
Thank you Sra Peris for confirming the point I made in my article that you are NOT CURRENTLY an elected MEP, and that Los Verdes of Orihuela made an unjustifiable claim that you are.
ReplyDeleteIn accordance with the rules of the European Parliament the only way you can become an elected MEP is if the current member representing your coalition (Oriol Junqueras) resigns (or dies) and allows the number two on the list Sra. Ana Miranda Paz to become the MEP. Then the proceedure would have to be repeated to allow the number three Sr. Inaki Irazabalbeitia Fernández to be appointed and then again before you could possibly be elected.
As I understand it the European Parliament is reviewing the number of resignations and new appointments deliberately being carried out by various parties.
Any agreement signed by the coalition is irrelevant if any one of the three members of the election list before you are sworn in as MEP and then refuse to resign. They cannot be forced by the coalition to resign.
In accordance with the European Parliament rules an MEP acts as an individual and is not governed by party policy. 'Independence: Members "shall not be bound by any instructions and shall not receive a binding mandate for example from their Member State or from any private person."
Only time will tell if you ever become the MEP for your coalition. Only time will tell if the coalition will continue. It will only exist if it serves the purpose of the larger and more powerfull members than Los Verdes.
